Beethoven Sonata No. 23, Opus. 57, otherwise known as the “appassionata” sonata, which translates to “impassioned”.
The first time I heard this piece was probably around 2013-2014 and I was thrilled with the fire and passion with which this piece was written. I had actually heard a colleague of mine perform it at state competition and was just blown away by the virtuosity. The music always felt empowering to me, so I started to learn it in 2016.
Everyday, I made sure to dedicate at least 30 minutes and over a couple months and this was the product. I’m a little sad I didn’t get to develop it further and work out the minute details for a really spectacular performance, but I felt I got the main idea, had a lot of fun, learned a lot, and am ultimately proud of this effort.
Recorded in 2016.
